  1. لنا صديقٌ ماردٌ

    يُكثرُ خَنْقَ الدّيكَهْ

    We have a defiant friend

    Who often strangles the rooster

  2. قلت أهلاً فقد

    لحاك أهل المملكهْ

    I said hello for he

    Met the people of the kingdom

  3. فقال دعني إنني

    خرقتُ تلك الشَّبكهْ

    He said leave me be for I

    Have torn that net

  4. وانحزتُ عن حزب الهدى

    وكنت ممَّنْ تركهْ

    And parted from the party of guidance

    And was of those who left it

  5. هل هو إلا قولهم

    واهاً له ما أنيكهْ

    Is it not just their saying

    Oh what a shame

  6. والقول ما أنيكَهُ

    أحسنُ من ما أنوكهْ

    And the saying what a shame

    Is better than what a pity

  7. فلا تلمني يا أخي

    بل ادعُ لي بالبركهْ

    So do not blame me, my brother

    But pray for me for blessing
