O mantle of the sons of Nubakht, wait, for I see you
Flirting with the embroidered cloak of the sons of War.
I implore you not to refuse the journey of a night
And have patience for roaming the east and the west.
My little mantle, my little mantle, the path between us
So do not leave the fearful gap without a patch.
And do not think I will not sing of her
Who entertains me with it at gatherings and in drinking.
So grant me my right in winter, for I will not see
The acceptance of a mantle from you in hot summer.
And patience, for the free man seeks to be blamed
To prove himself, while the slave seeks insult and beating.
