لُمْتَ يا وهبُ أهلَ دهركَ فيما

أنتَ أوجدتَهم إليه السبيلا

You blamed, O Wahb, the people of your time for what

You made possible for them to do

وتغضّبتَ من كلامِ أناسٍ

أكثروا إذ ضرطت قالاً وقيلا

And you were angry with the words of people

Who talked a lot when you farted loudly

لا تلمْهُم فإن لومَك لا ين

فع وارفُق بأكلِك الطفشيلا

Do not blame them, for your blaming does not benefit

And be gentle with your little fart

واتخذْ حشوةً وأعفِ جِعِرّا

ك من الطعن بالأيور قليلا

And make it discreet, and restrain your bray

Refrain a little from jabbing with spears
