يا آل نُوبَخْتَ كفُّوا من غزالكُم

عنِّي فلم يتَّرِكْ قلباً ولا جسدا

O people of Nubukht, stop your gazelles from me,

For they have left neither heart nor body for me,

أنا الصديق الذي لا شك فيه فلِمْ

أورثتموني على وُدِّي لكم كمدا

I am the true friend who is beyond doubt,

So why have you bequeathed me, in your love for me, anguish?

ردُّوا عليَّ فؤادي قد أُصبتُ به

أو حاكموني وإلا فابذلوا القَوَدَا

Return my heart to me, for I have been struck by it,

Or pass judgement on me, or else face the consequences,

لئن تَصيَّدَني ظبيٌ بمقلته

لقد تَصيدُ الظِّبا من قَبْله الأسدا

If a gazelle ensnares me with its eyelashes,

The lions before it have already ensnared gazelles,

استودع الله من لو شاء أنصفني

وردّ قلبي وأَولاني بذاك يدا

I entrust to God whoever, if He willed, would do me justice,

And return my heart and extend to me a helping hand.
