أخالدُ قد عادْيتَ فيَّ كَراكا

وأتعبتَ في حَوْكِ القريضِ قُواكا

Akhallad, you have wronged me with enmity,

And have wearied yourself in composing satire,

فلا تَهْجُنِي إني أخُوك لآدمٍ

وحَسْبي هجاءً أن أكون أخاكا

So do not blame me, for I am your brother in Adam,

And it is enough to revile me that I am your brother.

أخالدُ لا قُدّستَ من بعلِ زوجةٍ

يُصنّعُها في بيته لتُناكا

Akhallad, you are no saint away from a husband's authority,

Who makes her submissive in his house to be mounted,

تُقرّبها للنائكين مطيةً

جهاراً وربُّ العالمين يراكا

He offers her to sleepers as a mare,

Publicly, while the Lord of the Worlds watches you.

بلا رُزْءِ دينار ولا رزء دِرهم

سوى أنَّهم يشفون منك حُكاكا

Without a ounce of dinar or dirham,

Except that they quench their thirst through you.

أما لكَ يا شَرَّ الخلائِقِ حميةٌ

ولا غيرة أن يستباح حماكا

Don't you have any zeal, O worst of creatures,

That your privacy is violated?

بلى ربما استخليتَهم فضلَ خلوةٍ

فغرْتَ عليهم واستشطْتَ لذاكا

Rather, perhaps you secluded them in private,

Then you were delighted with them and took pleasure in that.

تغارُ على عُسْبِ الرجال وإنما

يغارُ على عُقْرِ النساءِ سِواكا

You are jealous over men's penises, yet

Only you are jealous over violating women.

عشوتَ إلى ناري بحُلم فراشةٍ

فصادفتَها نزَّاعةً لشواكا

You came to my fire with the patience of a moth,

So you encountered it blazing with thorns.
