تناسيت أمري واطرحت حقوقي

وعاديت بري واصطفيت عقوقي

I forgot my affairs and relinquished my rights

And returned to innocence and chose disobedience

ما ذاك إلا أنني سهم نصرة

فنحو العدا نصلي ونحوك فوقي

That is only because I am an arrow of help

So we pray towards the enemy and you are above me

أَتُغفل ريي بعدما قد غرستَني

قديماً وساخت في ثراك عروقي

Do you neglect seeing me after you had planted me

Long ago and my roots intertwined in your soil

ولاحت بروق منك أخلف رعدها

على أنني ما أخلفتك بروقي

And lightning flashed from you unlike its thunder

As if I did not fail you with my own lightning
