لَأَبو الجهم مُلْصَقٌ

مُعْتَدٍ في تَجَهُّمِهْ

Abu al-Jahm has a clinging self

Supercilious in his frowning

غيرَ أنِّي عذرتُهُ

في الخَنَا عِنْدَ لُوَّمِهْ

Yet I pardoned him

When he stumbles in dialogue

إنَّ مَنْ يُحفزُ الرجي

عُ بِعُنفٍ إلى فَمِهْ

Indeed, he who spurs eager

Harshly to his mouth

لَحقيقٌ بأنْ يُرَى

جَعرُهُ في تَكَلُّمِهْ

Deserves to be seen

Snarling in his speech
