    ء ولكنْ إلى مُجاج الثغورِ

    Souls thirsting not for water but for the tumult of frontiers,

    Eyes shedding tears of compassion for the glooms, yearning for the masks of the knights,

  2. وعيونٌ أبينَ عَطْفاً على الغُم

    ض اشتياقاً إلى لِثام البدور

    Hearts that find their cure from anguish in the breasts of lances above the chests,

    Passion that will not vanish as long as there are ringlets fluttering on the branches above the enclosures.

  3. وقلوبٌ شفاؤهنَّ من السُّق

    م نُهود الثُّديِّ فوق الصدور

  4. وهوى ليس ينقضي ما تثنَّتْ

    كُثُبٌ في الغصون فوق الخصور
