From me comes reproach and from you patience, so be patient,

For the evil of one who waits, O most evil of those who wait,

You are base, so if you show patience, it comes from baseness,

And submission to degradation, and if you complain, from vileness,

I saw the faults in my poetry when it pained you,

Like the biting of your brother the dog against a stone,

Look at the dog thrown a slipper and know that

It left no trace of him and nothing remained.
