إلى الزهاد في الدنيا
جنان الخلد تشتاقُ
To the ascetics of this world
The gardens of eternity yearn
عبيد من خطاياهم
إلى الرحمن أبّاقُ
Servants whose sins
To the Merciful have cried
حدتهم نحوه الرغبَ
ة والرهبة فانساقوا
Their desire and awe led them
And so they flowed
وزافت لهم الدنيا
وعاقتهم فما انعاقوا
The world was kind to them
Yet they did not bend
عليهم حين تلقاهم
سكينات وإطراق
Upon them when met
Serenity and devotion
بقاياهم من الخدمَ
ة أشباحٌ وأرماق
What remains of their service
Are specters and offerings
توهَّمُهُم وقد مالت
لسكرالنوم أعناق
They imagine as sleep pulls
Their necks into its drunkenness
وقد قاموا ولا يهجَ
ع من ذاق الذي ذاقوا
And they arise, unable to express
What they have tasted
يضجون إلى الله
ودمع العين مهراق
Crying out to God
As tears stream down
مليكَ الناس أعتقنا
فإعتاقك إعتاق
Our Master, free us
For your emancipation is freedom
مليك الناس خلِّصنا
إذا ما كُشِّفَت ساق
Our Master, deliver us
When legs are exposed
مليك الملك هل مما
تطوقناه إطلاق
Our Master of sovereignty, is there
Any release from what has bound us
ففي أعناقنا طرّاً
من الآثام أطواق
For around our necks are burdens
Of sins like shackles
رجوناك ولا يخل
ف من رجّاك مصداق
We hoped in you, and none who hoped
In you has ever been disappointed
وخفناك وقد تعفو
وقلب المرء خفّاق
We feared you, and you forgive
As hearts flutter
