Abu al-Abbas, the pots have simmered,
The night has become pleasant and the day warm.
In the mornings and evenings there is coolness,
For which a cloak to wrap oneself is loved.
Spring has nearly become old,
Witnessed by flowers and blossoms.
If the cloak is withheld, it sulks,
Whenever hot days come.
It said, “I have come but linen
Is more appropriate for its wearer, and you today are bare.”
Wool has no purpose
If the wearing of silk and embroidery is pleasant.
So hurry with the cloak, for my heart
Yearns and desires for it.
Do not withhold it, alleging it is worn out,
Far be it from you to cause harm.
It is not fitting for nobles to procrastinate
With excuses that will cause regret in the end.
I implore you not to reciprocate my love
With bitterness caused by waiting.
For you have always been my object of preference,
And for the one who chooses you, the best.
How can you refuse me a cloak
When your love is my banner and armor?
