O you of sweet lips and charm,
Grant us a wish, do no harm,
Take from our dinars and sell to us,
Kindly, and leave off from blame.
You, my lord, are so generous,
Like Kisra crowned lofty and sage.
Stop by us, set out a lunch tomorrow,
And prepare the lute and glass.
O fair face, do not frown,
And ruin beauty with a scowl.
Is my wish's denier handsome?
Free of hate and impudence.
My wish for him is but
A rooster's need of a hen.
