I implore you by God, do not deny the favors you bestowed on us

O son of two viziers, or else you would betray our hopes

Being near you, you had indeed made me your confidant

But then you distanced me from your presence and betrayed my trust

I am a man seeking refuge, beware you do not spurn me

Or let me see myself veiled from you in disgrace

Do not let your veil write upon my face

One who exceeded his bounds went away tried

If your reproach is hurtful, it reveals your nobility

People in this world do not know its value

And if it is to correct some fault of mine

Then I have become, due to my state, indebted to you

My soul is pleased with you as long as it remains

If you become angry, what can this body do?

I seek no more than the noble traits you possess

Not the arrows you shot that caused madness in us

You opened the door of trickery for the shameless one

So from today use your eyes, not your ears

O you who fattened a weakling until he grew fat

Then take revenge on him once he is obese!

Wisdom did not permit complaining, so I complain of you

Though you have complained to us of what you do to us

I complain to you, not of you, O minister

And how can one complain of you, when time favored you?

By God, I complain of a time whose master you are

Even if I were to be fully content with its deeds

And I looked with an honest, not deceitful eye

But did not find you transcending the days

Did it not bring me close to you in intimacy

And made you happiest when it favored us?

O most clement of people in nature and hand

And most spacious when faced with hate

The hidden flaws of some people have appeared through their own doing

Yours are the merits, so do not give them a tongue

I wore the garment of deep ignorance – robe me

With wisdom, O epitome of splendor

Do not be angered by an unintentional sin

On the loyalty that you have deemed as comfort

Fulfill promises whose covenants have been made

With covenants tied – for breaking them is cursed

And know that the witnesses of poetry have testified

Early on, and the conscience of glory has guaranteed

O you, praise of whom, when told, gives me

Glory, which I did not procure from here or there

And when your favors stand for me

Then I do not care whether rain comes or not

Do not abandon a friend except for an outrage

The noble one sees his intimates as homeland

Unleash my shyness of you to restrain you

And do not unleash worries and grief upon me

Behold, I asked your forgiveness and bonus

So do not be like the mean who asks for loans

And let not my enviers say I prayed to an idol

I was only praying to God, not an idol

Be amazed at the request of a fervent longing delayed

By favor, despite ability that equipped us

Had I been reasonable, I would not have sought bonus

Nor wept, when you banished me, out of grief

Your anger alone troubles and saddens me

Nothing else, even if its weight is immense

Because of your disapproval, I am busy with none other

It drives away the pain from my eyes and ear

Had I despaired of censure and its tribulations

I would not have cared if fate frowned or laughed

But my soul promises me a return

And perhaps the matter I desire is near

I was not turned away from hoping in you

Even if you treat a sin with a sin that shelters us

In hoping despite sin there is pardon

From the firm in their judgment, a favor from us

Had I been aware, the sin would have been, at that point

Two sins, undoubtedly, except to one who is biased

Excuse my earnest request in delight

That makes the rain clouds forget the dry rivers and shore

You pulled me by the rope until you almost tore it

For no crime, yet you met a refined man

If you are veiled, an onlooker does not do you justice

The full moon said: perhaps it will become obscured

And if you are unveiled, people blame you, so he said to them

A cloud that rains generously when its Lord permits

And if you reproach or turn away for a moment

Whispered advice became gentle and the rough side became smooth

And if you are slow to act in a matter requiring action

He said: he avoided stumbling, praiseworthy is he and did not weaken

You will never lack an excuse for him

    Correcting, gathering minds and gentleness

I followed your pulling willingly, not like an errant camel

Who lagged when you pulled it by the nose rope

What is beyond my overt affection is overt goodness

Though what is even better than it is hidden within

As for us, we have sound opinions of you

So do not consider them mere whims and tribulations

And you made an accusation's claim a reason

So do not prove the claim when it accuses

Do not let my allegiance or praise be lost on you

For I know you as one who dislikes loss

Do not neglect virtue, O son of the virtuous - the laws

Laid it down and traditions solicited it

A people whose favors extended to their heels

So that they were fed food that preceded milk
