خانك الصبرُ يومَ قيلَ الرحيلُ

إنّ خطبَ الفراقِ خطبٌ جليلُ

Patience failed you on the day of farewell

Indeed, the matter of parting is momentous

وتزودتَ من سليماك زاداً

فيه للطالبِ الشفاءَ غليلُ

And you took provisions from your love

In which is healing for an aching heart

نظرت حضرةَ الوداعِ بعينٍ

غسلتْها الدموعُ وهْي كحيلُ

You looked upon the presence of farewell with an eye

Washed by tears like kohl

يحدُرُ الماءَ من محاجرِ عيني

ها على خدّها مسيلٌ أسيلُ

Water flows from my eyes

Oh, on her cheek a flowing, streaming trail
