أحبُّ أن تشتمني

بوزنِ ما تشتمُهُ

I love when you insult me

With the same weight you insult him

أو تُوقعَ الإكرام لي

وللذي أُكرمُهُ

Or bestow honor upon me

As you would honor him

فإن ما تفعلهُ

بحضرتي يُحشمُهُ

For whatever you do

In my presence becomes modest

وكل ما يألَمه

فإنني إيلمُهُ

And whatever hurts him

I feel his pain

وإنني يظْلِمُني

كلُّ امرىء يظلمُهُ

And verily it wrongs me

When a man wrongs him

لأنني يلزمني

كلُّ الذي يلزمُهُ

For I am bound

By all that binds him
