رشادك في طيب المعيشة زاهدا

O you who left the bright land though you left

Your guidance to good living in abstinence

فإنك ما أوحشت حين تركتها

نديماً ولا أوجدتَ فقدك فاقدا

You made it not lonely when you left it

A companion, nor made your loss be felt as loss

لما زاد في الشرب الذي قد تركته

من الراح خيرٌ منك في الشرب زائدا

Since what increased of joy which you have left

Was better than you in drinking, added more
