  1. فلو أنِّي وليتُ الحكمَ يوماً

    ووُلِّيتُ العقوبةَ والخِصاما

  2. لقرَّتْ عينُ من يهوى الجواري

    وعاقبتُ الذي يهوى الغُلاما

    Or a beardless youth whose armpits are hairless,

  6. يُريدُكَ للدَّراهِمِ لا لشيْءٍ

    وتلك تذوبُ عِشْقاً واهتماما

    He only wants you for money, nothing else,

    While she melts with love and care.
