ماذا يريدُ الناس من خالدٍ

وثقلُ قَرْنيه على رأسِهِ

What do people want from Khaled

when the weight of his horns is on his head

قد وَلعُوا بالشيخ يؤذونهُ

عجَّله اللَهُ إلى رَمْسِهِ

They are obsessed with the old man, tormenting him

May Allah hasten him to his grave

أليسَ فيهم رجلٌ منصف

فينصف البائس من نفسِهِ

Is there not among them an impartial man

to do justice to the wretched from himself

هل نَقموا منه سوى جوده

وطيب نفْس فيه عن عِرسِهِ

Did they resent him except for his generosity

and the goodness of a soul free from fault
