1. لو أنها سمحَتْ بطيفٍ عائدِ

    نصبَ الرُقادُ لها جِبالةَ صائدِ

  2. لكنها حجَبَتْهُ فاحتجبَ الكرى

    عن شاهدٍ وافى بدمعِ شاهدِ

  3. يا ليتَهُ متعاهِدٌ ذا صبوةٍ

    لم يُبقِ منه الحبُّ غيرَ مَعاهَدِ

    Oh if only he were a dedicated, energetic suitor

    Love would have left him with nothing but pacts

  4. عدِم السُلوّ وما أراهُ بواجدٍ

    سبباً يبلّغُهُ لقلب واجِدِ

    The lack of intimacy and I don't think he has

  5. ومريضةُ الأجفانِ إلا أنها

    أعدَتْ شكايتُها فؤادَ العائدِ

    فمنحتُه ذمّاً بألسُنِ حامدِ

    من ذاكَ العذْبِ الشنيبِ الباردِ

    And I was thirsty without getting a sip

    Of that fresh, icy sweet water

  9. كان الفراقُ هو التلاقي فانظُروا

    ضدّيْنِ قد جُمِعا بحالٍ واحدِ

    I have given the sun beneath its stars

    A full moon that shines on a clear horizon

  10. ونديِّ أُنْس وشّحَتْ أعطافَه

    دُرَرُ الكؤوسِ فهزّ معطَفَ ناهِدِ

    And I obtained from the gold of wine, some

    That dissolves in the water of cups like solid

  11. عاطيتُ فيه الشمسَ تحت نُجومِها

    بدراً تبلّجَ في قضيبٍ مائدِ

    In the shade of the days of happiness, an allusion

    To the shade of the days of splendid fate

  12. وظفرْتُ من ذهبِ المُدامِ بسائلٍ

    يحتلّ من ماءِ الكؤوسِ بجامِدِ

    The life of wars is not long-lasting

    While good repute is indeed everlasting

  13. في ظلِّ أيامِ السُرورِ كنايةً

    عن ظلِّ أيام الأجلِّ الماجدِ

    Traits that divide favors so he becomes

    The joy of the loyal and spite of the envious

  14. عمرو الحُروبِ لديه غيرُ معمِّرٍ

    بل خالدُ المعروفِ ليس بخالدِ

  15. شيمٌ تقسّمتِ المكارمَ فاغتدتْ

    فرحَ الوليّ ورُغْمَ أنفِ الحاسدِ

  16. غصبَ الكواكبَ وصفُها فلمجدِه

    في صولةِ المرّيخِ ظرفُ عُطاردِ

  17. ذو العَضْبِ والعذْبِ اللذَيْن تكفّلا

    قطعَ الوريدِ ووصْلَ ريِّ الوارد

  18. من معشرٍ عقَدوا المعاقِدَ للوغى

    وتكفّلوا فيها بحدِّ مَعاقِدِ

    The spears made them carry besieged ones

    And the armors sufficed them to wear coats of mail

  19. ركبوا الجيادَ الجُرْدَ واعتقلوا القنا

    فكأنّهمْ أُسْدٌ سطَتْ بأساوِدِ

    They were victorious because the father of victories is

    Hunting among them with the longest arm and aid

  20. أغنَتْهُمُ الأرماحُ حملَ مَخاصرٍ

    وكفتْهُمُ الأدراعُ لبس مجاسِدِ

    And the wittiness of exhalations, your spreading it

    Added more fragrances over the long distance

  21. ظفَروا لأن أبا المظفّرِ صائلٌ

    فيهم بأطولِ ساعدٍ ومُساعدِ

    Of one heading to you while the abodes are desolate places

    With poems being whispered into poems

  22. وذكيةُ النفَحات زادَك نشرُها

    أرَجاً على طولِ المدى المُتباعِدِ

    They have crossed through a mouth that gladdens you

    Passing through the expanses of mosques and churches

  23. من قاصدٍ لك والمنازلُ غُربةٌ

    بقصائدٍ ملقنّةٍ بقصائدِ

    You have let justice water flow through them in streams

    And allowed them the best springs from it

  24. وارَتْكَ من ثغرٍ يسرّكَ أهلُه

    عبَروا رُبوعَ جوامعٍ ومَساجدِ

    And you have clothed them in the garments of affection

    Thus you have become more compassionate to them than a father

  25. أجريتَ ماء العدْلِ فيهمْ سَلْسَلاً

    وأبحْتَهُم منهُ أجلّ موارِدِ

    With your praise and all their praise

    They unanimously agree in one tongue

  26. وكسوتَهُم حُللَ الحُنوّ عليهمُ

    فغدوتَ أشفقَ فيهمُ من والدِ

  27. منهم بحمدِك والثناءِ جميعهمْ

    متوافقون على لسانٍ واحدِ
