1. ما لمن في الهوى من خلاقِ

    فأقِلاّ ملامةَ العشاقِ

    What grace in love for the enamoured!

    Reproach those love-lorn gently!

  2. فكَفى كلّ عاشقٍ مستهامِ

    بصدودِ الحبيبِ والأشواقِ

    Every besotted lover is excused,

    Preoccupied with his beloved and yearnings.

  3. أيها اللائمونَ في الحبّ كُفّوا

    لومَ صبٍّ أضحى قريحَ مآقِ

    You fault-finders of love, enough!

    Blame not one made tearful and distressed by passion!

  4. ظلّ ذا لوعةٍ وحزنٍ ووجدٍ

    وغليلٍ وحرقةٍ واشتياقِ

    He lives shrouded in woe, grief and longing,

    Torment, burning pangs and cravings,

  5. ودموعٍ تَتْرى عميدٍ

    راعَهُ لمعُ مَبْسمٍ برّاقِ

    With copious tears flowing,

    Captivated by a gleaming smile.

  6. أخذ الله للمحبين في الوج

    دِ قِصاصاً من القُدودِ الرُشاقِ

    God exacted from the smooth-cheeked beloveds

    Retribution on behalf of passionate lovers.

  7. يا غزالاً كالدرِّ ثغراً وكالغُصْ

    نِ قَواماً والبدر في الإشراقِ

    O gazelle with lips like pearls, a slender waist,

    The full moon rising radiantly!

  8. لا تعذِّب بالهَجْرِ صَبّاً عميداً

    مستهاماً فالهجرُ مرّ المَذاقِ

    Torment not with estrangement a hapless ardent lover,

    For estrangement is bitter to taste.

  9. يا خليليّ خلياني فما يَحْ

    سُنُ لومُ المتيمِ المُشتاقُ

    O my sweetheart who disowns me, it is not meet

    To blame the enamoured captive.

  10. أيّ صبر يكون للدّنِف الها

    ئمِ ذي الوجدِ والحشا الخفّاقِ

    What patience can the impassioned love-lorn have

    Possessed by desire, madness and confusion?

  11. ولقد سرتُ والدُجى ألبسَ الأر

    ضَ ثياباً ولسنَ بالأخلاقِ

    I roamed in the dark night that clothed the earth,

    Though not in character, seeking my prize earnestly

  12. طالباً معدِنَ الفَخارِ بجدٍ

    وبعزمٍ على المهاري العِتاقِ

    And firmly intent on attaining the mother lode.

    I journeyed until dawn rose for beholders in its radiance.

  13. فسرْت بي حتى بدَتْ طلعةُ المشْ

    رِقِ للناظرينَ في إشراقِ

    The rise of the Imam we hope for told

    He who enjoys his support is free of all bonds.

  14. فحكتْ طلعةُ الإمام المُرجّى

    مَنْ بيُمناهُ حلّ كلَّ وِثاقِ

    I praise the most eminent Ahmad Abu Taher

    Whose ocean of generosity overflows unfettered.

  15. أحمدَ الحافظِ الأجلّ أبي الطا

    هرِ مَنْ بحرُ جودِه ذو انْدفاقِ

    A lover of dew lifelong, a passionate youth,

    Whoever visits him is safe from humiliation.

  16. مغرمٌ بالنّدى مَدى الدهرِ صبٌ

    من يزُرْهُ يأمنْ من الإملاقِ

    In his palm lies a lightning bolt of generosity,

    That floods the horizons when the rain holds back.

  17. إنّ في راحتيْهِ عارضَ جودٍ

    إنْ ونى الغيثُ سحّ في الآفاقِ

    You would think him, when enraged, thunder and lightning

    With flashes of promise and truthful portents.

  18. فتراه يهمي برعدٍ وعيدٍ

    وبإبراقِ موعدٍ مصْداقِ

    His palms dispense generosity and grace,

    Protecting all necks from severance.

  19. طوقتْ راحتاه جُوداً وفضلاً

    لا عدِمناهُ سائرَ الأعناقِ

    His excellence assembled and dispersed

    Has never ceased to come together and separate.

  20. فمعاليه لم تزلْ في اجتماع

    ولهاهُ لمّا تزَلْ في افتراقِ

    When he extends his palm he attains the utmost

    Reach of one seated at the highest porch.

  21. وإذا مدّ كفَّه نالَ أعلى

    سؤدد جالسٍ بأعلى رُواقِ

    When he competes with steeds in generosity

    He is like lightning flashing in its radiance.

  22. وإذا سابقَ الجيادَ الى المج

    دِ فكالبرقِ حالةَ الإبراقِ

    When he is serious in giving it is as if

    An ocean, pouring down without respite.

  23. وإذا جدّ في العَطاءِ فكالبح

    رِ سماحاً والوابل الغَيداقِ

    To his merit throng riders of high-bred steeds,

    And caravans journey after caravans.

  24. فإلى فضلِه تُشدُّ المَطايا

    وتسيرُ الرِفاقُ بعد الرفاقِ

    O Imam of mankind, the prayer of a lover

    Who kept faithful to his pact:

  25. يا إمامَ الورى دعاء محبٍ

    لم يزَلْ ثابتاً على الميثاقِ

    The month of Sha’ban has come, so congratulate

    The month of Sha’ban in lasting bliss!

  26. شهرُ شعبانَ قد أتى فتهنّا

    شهرُ شعبانَ في نعيمٍ باقِ

    May you remain an asylum for mankind

    And the path to fates and livelihoods.

  27. وابقَ واسلَمْ لا زلتَ كهفَ البَرايا

    وطريقَ الآجالِ والأرزاقِ
