    May the Eid gladden you—for now it is fitter,

    and worthier that you should be congratulated upon it.

    So welcome its auspiciousness beneath the shade of a king

    who has come, in blessing, to stretch out his right hand to you.

    He has made bright stars rise from goblets of wine,

    and dark rainclouds from the smoke of fragrant incense.

    لبستَ برودَهُ دعَةً وأمنا

    Your day surpasses its yesterday in delight;

    you have worn its robes: ease and safety.

    And in its music you would think the lute one of those

    that obey her: whenever she sings, it too sings.

    يذُمّ لأجله رضوانُ عَدْنا

    Your courtyard—O Riḍwān—is itself an Eden;

    because of it, Riḍwān disparages Eden.
