قالوا لقد صار في مُهذّبكم

شيءٌ به الآن شاعَ في بلدِهْ

They said, "Your refined one has now

Become known in his country for something

يفعلُ في جوفِ

فعلَ سواهُ تلذّذاً بيدِهْ

That gives him pleasure in his hand

Unlike what others have done."

فقلتُ يا قومُ عنهُ معتذراً

لكي أقيمَ المعوجّ من أوَدِهْ

I said, "O people, I apologize for him

So I may straighten the crookedness in his limbs.

ميراثُه ذاك عن أبيهِ ولنْ

يبرحَ حتى يصيرَ في ولَدِهْ

That is his inheritance from his father, and it will

Not leave until it passes to his son."
