O my protector from the vicissitudes of an abasing fate
My supreme pillar and my exalted companion
I complain to you at the door of what has transpired
And what it has now become
O scholar, I have no ink
And my occupation with idleness takes precedence
While I, this abode, the house, the pillar
The Well of Zamzam and the praying place
In all creation, there is none who will watch over me
When I come to him except for you
Your eye is upon me, O guardian scholar
You did not say to the one seeking refuge, no!
So grant me and be safe and let be what the night has veiled
Upon one with insight and splendor
