نِعَمُ اللِّه كالوُحوشِ فما تَأْ

لَفُ إِلا الأَخايِرَ النُّسَّاكا

God's blessings are like wild beasts - they only befriend

The righteous and the devout who from sin refrain

نَفَّرَتْها ذنوبُ قوم وقد مَد

دَ لها البِرُّ والقُّقَى أَشْرَاكا

The people's sins have driven them away though to them

Kindness and piety have stretched out their hands in vain
