ما يقولُ الفقيهُ أبقاه ذو العر
شِ بقاءً يقضي له بالخلودِ
What the scholar says lasts, preserved
By the generous one with eternal life
والذي ما لَنا إذا هجمَ الفق
رُ سوى ظلِّ جودِه الممدودِ
And we have nothing when poverty attacks
Except the shade of his outstretched generosity
في أناسٍ تجمّعوا ليس فيهِمْ
أحدٌ ينطوي على موجودِ
Among people gathered with nothing inside them
No one has real wealth
يشتكون الظما وقد عكفوا من
كَ على صفْوِ باردٍ مورودِ
They complain of thirst while sitting
On a cold, fresh, flowing drink
رفعوا أمرَهُم إليكَ وقالوا
ليس نهجُ السَدادِ بالمَسْدود
They raised their case to you and said
The path of righteousness is not blocked
أتَرى نجمَ طيرِهم بسُعودِ
قد جرى الآن أم بغير سُعودِ
Do you see the star of their luck rising
Whether with or without luck
الجوابَ الجوابَ يرحمُك الل
هُ على رُغمِ أنفِ كلِّ حَسودِ
The answer, the answer - may God have mercy on you
Despite the grudges of all the envious
