How many times my youth fell ill,
Then the Nile's island brought healing,
In a night whose downpour still flows,
Quenching our thirsty livers.
From overwhelming joy we almost
Tripped the dawn with dusk.
In it I gave my heart's content and patron
To a fair singing voice.
And a gathering I scarcely doubt
Grants me heaven's comfort.
I enjoyed therein seas of wealth
That met the Nile, a sea of water.
The wind shook from it a sword
Beautified by the sheen of polish.
Its bridge, when it saw it, praised it
For the radiance of full moon at dusk.
Its ships came differentiated
Though level in their sailing.
Some rose, some descended,
All from glory to glory.
A bird whose sides are dark
With its guides being made of light.
And the glow on both flanks casts
Upon it rays of heaven's stars.
The paved path stretching from it
Is like writing on the side of scripture.
Its arches tell of rhythm
Like steeds aligned at a drinking place.
