1. إنها أعرضَتْ عن الإعراضِ

    فاقضِ يا عاذلي الذي أنتَ قاضي

    She turned away from turning away

    So pass judgment, O my blamer, as you are the judge

  2. غادةٌ أمرضَتْ جُسوماً صِحاحاً

    بجفونٍ ذواتِ سُقمٍ مِراضِ

    Gada made healthy bodies sick

    With eyelids having chronic illness

  3. جمعَتْ في الهوى جنودَ سُهادي

    مثل ما فرّقتْ جفونَ اغتماضي

    She gathered in love troops of madness

    As she dispersed the eyelids of my gloom

  4. ريقُها خمرَتي وفي وجنتَيْها

    روضةٌ لي فاقتْ جميع الرّياضِ

    Her saliva is my wine, and in her cheeks

    Is a meadow for me surpassing all gardens

  5. ذاتُ طرْفٍ ما أبصرَ الطّرفُ أحلى

    من سوادٍ قد حازَه في بياضِ

    A glance whose glance saw nothing lovelier

    Than blackness which whiteness has gained

  6. فتكَتْ بي جُفونُها في هواها

    مع عزّي كفتكةِ البرّاضِ

    Her eyelids killed me in her love

    Like the killing of leopards

  7. كلُّ سيفٍ يكلُّ غيرَ سيوفٍ

    جُرِّدَتْ لي من ألحاظِ مواضي

    Every sword fails except her swords

    That were bared for me from the glances of the watcher

  8. وغزالٍ قضى عليّ غرامي

    في هواهُ منه بتركِ التّقاضي

    And a gazelle that finished me off in his love

    By abandoning litigation

  9. أنا راضٍ بذِلّتي وخضوعي

    في هواه فهل تُرى هو راضِ

    I am content with my humiliation and surrender

    In his love, so does he see me content?

  10. ذو عذارٍ يمشي على وردِ خدّيْ

    هِ الهُوَيْنا كالحيّةِ النّضناضِ

    With a tender mouth that walks on my cheek

    Is our love like the writhing serpent?

  11. مُستفاضٌ هواي فيه وصبري

    عن هواهُ فليس بالمستفاضِ

    My love in him is abundant, and my patience

    For his love, but it is not abundant

  12. صاحِ دعْ كرَه سِرْ في الفيافي

    وتغرّبْ كالحرث بنِ مُضاضِ

    Shout, leave the hate of secrets and

    Alienate yourself like the plow of Muḍāri

  13. سر مجدّاً الى طِلابِ المعالي

    فوقَ ظهرِ السّواهمِ الأنقاضِ

    Travel with glory to the seekers of greatness

    Above the back of the lofty ruins

  14. وانْحُ بابَ الإمامِ سيّدِنا الحا

    فظِ تظفَرْ بسائِرِ الأغراضِ

    And head to the door of our Imam and master

    So you may gain all purposes

  15. الكريمِ النِّجارِ والطاهرِ الموْ

    لِدِ بين الأنام والأعراضِ

    The generous carpenter and the pure birth

    Among people and reputations

  16. صيغَ من جوهرِ المكارمِ صِرْفاً

    وكرامِ الورى من الأعراضِ

    Formed from the essence of virtues purely

    And the world’s nobilities from reputations

  17. ذو ارتفاعٍ على السِّماكَيْنِ والنّسْ

    رِ كما أنّ ضدّه ذو انخِفاضِ

    With a loftiness over the two heights and stars

    As its opposite has lowness

  18. هو يعطي بُزْلاً وكلُّ كريمٍ

    غيرَهُ باخِلٌ ببنْتِ مِخاضِ

    He gives squandering while every generous one

    Other than him is stingy with the daughter of childbirth

  19. ما لهُ ساخطٌ عليه مدى الده

    رِ كما أنّ عِرضَه عنه راضِ

    No one is angry with him for an epoch

    Just as being away from him makes one content

  20. قطّ لم يُحوِجَ العُفاةَ ولا المسا

    ئِلَ جدوى يمينه الفيّاضِ

    He never disappointed the poor and the beggars

    Due to his overflowing right hand

  21. هو قاضٍ على لُهاهُ بجورٍ

    وهو بالعدْلِ في البريّةِ قاضِ

    He is unjust to his ignoramus with injustice

    And with justice in the wilderness, he is the judge

  22. ذو فخارٍ ضخمٍ وعزٍّ منيع

    ونوالٍ جمٍّ وأيْدٍ عِراضِ

    With enormous pride and firm honor

    And abundant success and spreading hands

  23. إيتِ يا صادياً حياضَ نداهُ

    وارْو منها وخلِّ كلَّ الحياضِ

    Come O yearner to his call’s basin

    And drink from it and leave all the basins

  24. لم يزَلْ مذْ عرفتُه ذا انبساطٍ

    وسواه طولَ المدى ذات انقباضِ

    Since I knew him he was always genial

    While others are always contracted

  25. أيها الحافظُ الإمام المفدّى

    جُدْتَ فالمكرماتُ عنك رَواضِ

    O guardian Imam, O redeemer

    Your virtues are meadows

  26. هاك بكراً كسوتُها ثوب فخرٍ

    أيُّ ثوبٍ من سؤددٍ فضفاضِ

    What garment of felicity is more loose?

    She disdains the poetry of al-Mutanabbi

  27. فغدَتْ تزدري بشعر المعرّي

    وبمهيارَ والشريفِ البَياضي

    And that of Muhyi al-Din al-Bayati

    So stay and be safe as long as the birds sing in the thickets

  28. فابْقَ واسلَم ما غرّد الطيرُ في الأي

    كِ وهز النسيمُ زهرَ الرياضِ

    And the breeze shakes the flowers of the gardens
