مولاي أمرُكَ قد تقدّمْ

بالصفحِ عمّا قد تقدّمْ

My Master, your command has come

To pardon what came before

فقبلتُه وأتيتُ أقْ

دَمَ صاحبٍ في الهول أقدَمْ

So I accepted it and came forward

A companion in dire straits goes forth

ومن الفدامة أن أُخا

لفَ بعدَ ما فُضّ المُفَدَّمْ

And of sacrifice, that I spend time

After the spilling with one bloodied

عن قهوةٍ بوجودِها

ألبابُنا لا شكّ تُعْدَمْ

Over coffee whose existence

Clearly destroys our minds

أخرتُها من بعدِ ما

طُلبتْ فصحّ القولُ أقدَمْ

I postponed it after it was

Requested, so the saying goes forth

فكؤوسُها تفترّ عن

دمِ قهوةٍ في صِبْغِ عندَمْ

For its cups slacken from

The blood of coffee in red dye

ويحلُّ للمضطرِّ بع

دَ ثلاثةٍ ما شاءَ منْ دَمْ

And it's permitted for the desperate after

Three whatever blood he wishes

ونعمْ سأخدمُها ومث

لُ جلالِك المشهورُ يُخْدَمْ

And yes, I will serve it and like

Your renowned majesty, it is served

ببديعِ ذهنٍ غادرَ الش

عراءَ يَقْفو ما تردّمْ

With the excellence of a traitorous mind that surpassed

Poets, corresponding to what accumulates

يَبْني فيَهْدي للصوا

بِ بما بناهُ وليس يُهدَمْ

It builds so it guides to sobriety with what it built and does not demolish

And God has postponed, oh leader

والله أخّر يا مقد

مُ كلّ ذي فضلٍ وقدّمْ

Every man of virtue and went forth

And with you, beautiful ones provide me

ولديك أوجدَني المحا

سنَ لا عَدِمْناها واعدِم

We do not lose them and they build up

And your poem sets alight

وافَى قريضُك تلهبُ ال

أنفاسُ فيه أم لِدَمْ

Passions within, or for blood

It increased its beauty so it

زادَتْهُ حُسناً فهو ين

شُرُ كلّما أبدى ويؤدَمْ

Spreads whenever displayed and accumulates

And with it armies of worries

وبه جيوشُ الهمّ تصْ

دَعُ شملَها أبداً وتصدِمْ

Cease its cohesion forever and shatter

And I recalled an upcoming era

وذكرتُ دهراً قادماً

وافى إليكَ أسرّ مَقدَمْ

That came to you, secrets go forth

From narcissus, the army of meadows

من نرجسٍ جيشُ الريا

ضِ وراءَهُ وهو المُقدّمْ

Behind it and it goes forth

And the like of scattered, enchanting me

ونضير منثورٍ يُشوّ

قُني الأسورُ والمَخدّمْ

The prisoners and the servile

So I recited the gurgling of their Lord

فتلوتُ دمدَمَ ربَّهُمْ

في إثْرها والعودُ دمدَمْ

After it while the lute gurgles

So I am the entertainer if you are present

فأنا المُنادِمُ إن حضر

تُ وإن أغِبْ فأنا المندَّمْ

And if absent, then I regret

Wait O Abu Bakr for you

مهلاً أبا بكر فأن

تَ وما أحابيكَ المُقدَّمْ

And what worries you that goes forth

And of wonders, that it goes

ومنَ العجائبِ أنْ غَدا

بينَ الشَفا والجسْمِ يوْدَمْ

Between healing and the body, it bleeds

I crafted a rhyme whose

شيدتُ قافيةً بنا

ءُ نُجومِها عندي تهدّمْ

Stars in my view crumble

And I withheld the fervor of my soul

وحبَسْتُ كوْدَنَ خاطري

عن أجردٍ كالبرقِ صلْدَمْ

From a bare like lightning, formidable

His feet make forget a meadow, O meadow a bloodied

أقدامه يُنسي ربي

عةَ يا ربيعُ فتى مكدَّمْ

Youth

For the D (dal) before the M (meem) from

فالدالُ قبل الميمِ من

وجدانِ صافي الودِ أعدَمْ

The essence of pure affection is executed

And from exaltation he came with

ومن العلوّ أتى بأجد

مَ راغباً في الدالِ أجْدَمْ

Steps yearning for the D (dal), accumulating

And he stopped slippers, so leave a

وقفَ النِعالَ فدَعْ فني

قاً يذرَعُ البيداءَ مُكرَمْ

Truthful one roaming the wilderness esteemed
