1. أُخيَّ دعِ البطالة والْهُ عنها

    وجانِبْها فعُقباها الشّقاءُ

    O brother, leave idleness and turn away from it

    Its consequences are misery

  2. جمالُ المرءِ في الدنيا صلاحٌ

    وخيرُ بضاعةِ الحرِّ الحياءُ

    A man's beauty in life is righteousness

    And the best merchandise of the free man is modesty

  3. عجبتُ لمن يميل الى المعاصي

    وتعجِبُه الملاهي والغِناءُ

    I wonder at him who inclines towards sins

    And is amused by frivolities and singing

  4. وعقبى ذَينِ لو يدري شقاءٌ

    يطولُ وبعده أيضاً عناءُ

    The outcome of both, if he only knew, is misery

    Prolonged, and after it more hardship

  5. تنبّهْ يا نؤومُ فلستَ تدري

    عليك بما الذي سبقَ القضاءُ

    Wake up, o sleepy one, for you don't know

    What has been ordained by fate beforehand

  6. وكِلْ لله أمرَك إنه في

    جميع الخلق يفعلُ ما يشاءُ

    And entrust your matter to God, for He

    Does whatever He wills with all creatures

  7. ولُذْ بالحافظ الحَبْرِ المُرجّى

    ففيه الفضلُ أجمع والوفاءُ

    And take refuge in the Protected Book

    For in it are all merit and loyalty

  8. إمامٌ كل من في الأرض أرضٌ

    إذا اختُبِروا وهمّتُهُ سماءُ

    A leader whom everyone on earth is beneath

    When tested, and his ambition is the sky

  9. عليه من المفاخر والمعالي

    لسواءٌ حبذا ذاك اللواءُ

    He has such glories and excellences

    That to that banner is equally lofty

  10. أدام له البقا والعزّ ربّي

    متى ما أعقبَ الصُبْحَ المساءُ

    May my Lord prolong his existence and honour

    Whenever the dawn turns into evening
