My soul yearns for sublime fortune,
Having risen above base luck.
I shall obligate it to shun worldliness,
And I won't satisfy it with anything but leadership.
Better than the ruled in my eyes,
Is one who is not corrupted by the refusal of the chief.
If only manners brought good fortune -
I would attain wealth every Thursday.
If only fate wished my well-being,
It would bring me close to an agreeable judge.
I fell for him, shedding copious tears
For his singing, and passionate laments in captivity.
We did not seek to protect glory,
Until we pledged to sacrifice our souls.
How can I settle when the ship of Jesus
Has sailed the sea of mirage?
The burdens' necks were naught but thyme,
And its bearers naught but suns.
