1. احكُمْ على الثَقَلَيْنِ الإنس والجانِ

    فأنت أقومُ بالمُلكِ السُلَيْماني

    Judge the two burdens, mankind and jinn

    For you are most just with the state of Solomon

  2. لك البسيطانِ لا تقضي انقباضَهُما

    وكيف يُقبَضُ كفّاكَ البَسيطانِ

    For you are the two outstretched hands that do not withhold

    How can your two outstretched hands withhold?

  3. كذا الجديدانِ مذ أُلْبِسْت بُردَهما

    تطابقَ الأمر والمعْنى جديدانِ

    Thus the two new ones since you were clothed in their mantle

    The matter and meaning are in harmony, both new

  4. أنسَيتنا كلَّ إنسانٍ له شرفٌ

    بهمةٍ أذكرَتْنا كلّ إنسانِ

    You made us forget every honored human

    With ambition, you reminded us of every human

  5. لو صال سيفٌ على سيف بن ذي يزَنٍ

    لفلّ أشفارَهُ في غِمْدِ غَمْدان

    If a sword had clashed with the sword of Sai’f bin Dhi Yazan

    It would have sheathed its blade in the sheath of sheaths

  6. فأين كسرى ولا ساسانُ من هممٍ

    غُرٍّ غدَتْ لبني كسرى وساسانِ

    So where is Chosroes and the Sassanids from their ambitions?

    Ambitions that became against the children of Chosroes and the Sassanids

  7. عبسٌ وذُبيانُ والأخبار واسعة

    لديك بالحمدِ لولا آلُ ذُبيانِ

    Frowning and Dhubyan and the news is vast

    With your grace, if not for the family of Dhubyan

  8. تبني يمينُك وهي النيلُ كلّ عُلا

    والنَيْلُ يهدِمُ دفعاً كلّ بُنيانِ

    Your right hand builds every elevation

    And the Nile demolishes every building

  9. وطوْدُ حِلمِكَ لا بالطيشِ مهتَضَمٌ

    هذا وطيفُك يرميهم بطوفانِ

    The firmness of your patience cannot be shaken by recklessness

    This while your clouds pelt them with a flood

  10. يهْمي ويحمي وحسبُ الغيثِ واحدةً

    ولو رضيتَ لقُلنا حسبُك اثنانِ

    It protects and destroys, and the rain is enough

    If you wished, we would say your two hands are enough

  11. أوطأتَ خليلَك أبكارَ الحُصونِ على

    أن الحصونَ عَذارى ذاتُ إحصانِ

    You made your friend taste the virgin strongholds

    As if the strongholds are chaste women of virtue

  12. ما طرْنَ في جوّها عقبانَ ألويةٍ

    صاغ النجيعُ لها تصْحيفَ عُقبانِ

    No eagles of banners have nested in its atmosphere

    The wailer has distorted it to be nests of eagles

  13. وزُرْتَها بأسودِ الحرب زائرةً

    تخافُ من فتكِها آسادُ خُفّانِ

    You have visited it with the lions of war

    Whose onslaught frightens the lionesses

  14. من كلِّ مشتهِرٍ يقْضي بمُشْتَهرِ

    كأنّ غرّتَهُ والسيفَ نجمانِ

    With every famous one you judge with the famous

    As if its pride and the sword are two stars

  15. تخالُه واهتزازُ الرُمحِ في يده

    ليثاً تَلاعَبُ يُمناهُ بثُعبانِ

    Its swaying and the shaking of the spear in his hand

    Seems like a lion playing with his right hand and a snake

  16. هل الرماحُ غصونٌ باتَ يغرِسُها

    من الصُدورِ طِعاناً فوقَ كُثْبانِ

    Are the spears branches that he plants

    Thrusting from the chests over the sand dunes?

  17. أولا فما بالُنا بالمدْح في غزَلٍ

    من كُثْبِ يبرين أم من قَضْبِ نُعمانِ

    First, why do we praise with love poems

    From the sand dunes of Yabrīn or from the canebrakes of Nu’man?

  18. فنونُ وصفِك أجنَتْنا غرائِبها

    فما لها من نهاهُ بين أفنانِ

    The arts of your description have exhausted us

    So it has no end among the arts

  19. كلّ حَبانا بعدْن في رُبى عدَنٍ

    رضوانُك ابنُ بِلالٍ قبلَ رُضْوانِ

    Every gift after this is in the garden of Eden

    Your pleasure, O son of Bilal, before all pleasure

  20. يا طالبَ اليُسْرِ يمّم ياسرا وكفى

    فياسرٌ أبداً واليُسْرُ سيّانِ

    O seeker of ease, intend ease and enough

    For ease is eternal and intention is equal

  21. أضرِبْ به لا بمنهل الحَيا مثلاً

    ما الماءُ والمالُ في الأزمانِ مِثْلانِ

    Strike with it, not with the watering place of life as an example

    Water and money are not equal in eras

  22. عمّت بصدقٍ قَراع أو قِرى يده

    فخصّصَتْهُ بمِطْعامٍ ومِطعانِ

    It has spread with sincerity the villages or the palms of his hand

    So it specified him with food and harvests

  23. وجانسَ الحربَ بالمحراب يعمُرُه

    فلا قِرىً وقِراعٌ دون قُرآنِ

    And he equalized war with worship, developing it

    So neither villages nor palms without the Quran

  24. وشنّ دِرْعاً على درّاعةٍ فزَرى

    بكلِّ صاحبِ إيوانٍ وديوانِ

    And he donned shields over coats of mail, so he saw

    With every owner of a hall and organization

  25. ما فوقَ سُلطانِه في ملكِه أحدٌ

    دعِ الأميرَيْن واذكُرْ كلَّ سُلطانِ

    None above his sultanate in his kingdom

    Ignore the two princes and mention every sultan

  26. هما اللذانِ به دانَ الوَرى لهما

    بلا خلافٍ من القاصي أو الداني

    They are the two with whom the world has bowed without dissent

    From the farthest to the nearest

  27. بدرانِ للمُلْكِ سعداهُ اقترانُهما

    كذاك ما يقترنْ بالسعدِ بَدرانِ

    Two full moons, fortunate is their conjunction

    That is how conjunction with good fortune is like two full moons

  28. وصارمانِ إذا هُزّا بمعركةٍ

    فإنما لهما الجفنان جفانِ

    And two swords, if brandished in battle

    For them are the two eyelids, blinking

  29. فإن عَلا بهما قحطان في شرَفٍ

    هما قد انتمَيا فيه لقَحْطانِ

    So if Qahtan has risen in nobility

    They have affiliated with him through Qahtan

  30. فإنْ عدنانَ منه أحمدٌ وبه

    كان السُموّ فلم يبرَحْ لعدْنانِ

    And if Adnan - through him is Ahmad and through him

    Was the ascent, so it did not cease for Adnan

  31. فضَلْتُمُ آل عِمرانِ الورى شرَفاً

    والله فضّلَ قِدْماً آل عِمرانِ

    You have preferred, O family of Imran, the world in nobility

    And Allah has preferred first the family of Imran

  32. ثانٍ هو الأولُ الماضي عُلاً وبهاً

    وأولُ هو في هذا وذا الثاني

    The second one is the first, gone high in status and distinction

    And the first one is in this and that, the second

  33. أيُّ اقتبالٍ وإقبالٍ لمملكةٍ

    قد عقّباها على يُمنٍ بإيمانِ

    What confrontation and favor for a kingdom

    Followed by faith in Yemen?

  34. يا منْ له يدّعي الأملاكَ قاطبةٍ

    ومن يُخِبّ إليه كلّ أظْعانِ

    O you for whom all kingdoms are claimed

    And for whom all succor turns

  35. ومن سرَيْنا على نجمي مكارمهُ

    فأنزلانا على سعدٍ وسَعْدانِ

    And we traveled by the two stars of his virtues

    So they descended upon happiness and delight

  36. ومن به يُرْغَمُ الشاني وحقّ له

    فإنّما يرغَمُ الثاني من الشانِ

    And through whom the critic is silenced, and he has the right

    For he only silences the second of two critics

  37. للناسِ في كلّ قطرٍ لم تحُلّ به

    عيدٌ وللناسِ في ذا القطرِ عيدان

    People in every region have no feast endowed upon them

    Except for the people in this region having two feasts

  38. كم راحَ في نحْرِ عيد النحْرِ مُنتظِماً

    بيُمنِ جدِّكَ من درّ ومُرجانِ

    How much has trotted in the sacrifice of the feast of sacrifice

    Through the good fortune of your grandfather, of pearls and coral

  39. ركبتَ يا بحرُ بحراً بالعُباب جرى

    فسالَ بينكُما في البرّ بحْرانِ

    You rode, O sea, a sea with billows flowing

    So two seas flowed between you on land

  40. وسرتَ تحت لواءِ النصرِ مُعتلياً

    تهدي كأنّكما طرّاً لِواءانِ

    And you marched under the banner of victory

    As if you two were a fluttering banner

  41. في موكبٍ كم به من كوكب شرِقٍ

    يسْمو على المُشتري قدْراً وكيوانِ

    In a procession, in it many planets have risen

    Above Jupiter in worth and stature

  42. عساكرٌ كسطورِ الطُرْسِ تقدمُها

    كأنّما أنت فيها سطرُ عُنوانِ

    Armies like script lines, leading them

    As if you among them are the line of the title

  43. حتى أتيتَ المُعلّى ناشراً سبباً

    رآكَ فيها على ضيقٍ سُليمانِ

    Until you came to the Most High, spreading a cause

    He saw you among them despite the narrowness of Solomon

  44. ولو أردت بفضلِ القولِ قمتَ به

    يوماً مَقاماً بفضلِ حول سحبانِ

    And if you wished, you could have stood with the grace of words

    One day in place of the grace of Suhayb and his troop

  45. وعدتَ تستبدلُ الإحسان مرتجلاً

    ما قالَ حسانُ في أبناءِ عفّانِ

    And you returned improvising kindness

    What Hassaan said about the sons of `Affan

  46. لو أنّ إجماعنا في فضل سؤدَدِه

    في الأصلِ لم يختَلفْ في الأمّةِ اثنانِ

    If our consensus on the grace of his friendship

    In origin, two people would not differ in the nation
