1. يا أسعدَ السعداءِ دع

    وةُ مَن بجاهِكَ يُعرَفُ

    O happiest of the happy, let

    my prayer through your favour gain me renown

  2. عبداك صرفُ الدهْرِ في

    حليهِما متصرِّفُ

    Your servant spends his life

    administering their two adornments

  3. هذا وما لهما لأج

    لِكَ دونَ مِصْرٍ مَصْرِفُ

    This one has for your sake no Egypt

    to resort to other than your Egypt

  4. أنا خائفٌ مترقّبٌ

    فيها وذاكَ مثقَّفُ

    I am there fearful, expectant

    while he is confident and assured

  5. فكأنني موسَى بها

    وكأن موسى يوسُفُ

    So I am like Moses in it

    while Moses is like Joseph
