1. عَرَّسَ بالتوفيقِ والسَّعْدِ

    أَبو الوفاءِ بْنُ أَبي سَعْدِ

    Abu al-Wafa ibn Abi Sa'd was wed

    With good fortune and happiness ahead

  2. بَدْرٌ حوى شَمْسًا تُجَلِّي الدُّجَى

    ما لم يكُنْ من فاحم جعْدِ

    A full moon that illuminates the gloom

    With unmatched splendor and éclat

  3. كريمَةُ المَنْصِبِ قد حازَها

    مِثالُها في رُتَبِ المَجْدِ

    She holds a noble status indeed

    A paragon of virtue and rectitude

  4. أَلْبَسَهُ حَمْدِي ومن ذا الذي

    أَلْبَسَهُ مفتخراً حَمْدي

    I clothed him in praise, for who else

    Could I praise so proudly?

  5. ولم أَزَلْ أَنْظِمُ في وَصْفِهِ

    فرائدَ الأَمداحِ كالعِقْدِ

    I compose for him still

    Refined eulogies like a necklace

  6. من آلِ موسى عبدوا ربَّهُمْ

    ووَحَّدُوهُ غايَةَ الجُهْدِ

    The family of Moses worshipped their Lord

    And devoted themselves fully

  7. ليس من العُبَّاد للعِجْلِ في

    ما قد مَضَى من لا ولا البُدِّ

    None of His servants worshipped the calf

    In times gone by, no, never

  8. ولا الذين اتَّخذوا نارَهُمْ

    ربًّا كما يُحْكَى عن الهِنْدِ

    Nor those who took fire as their lord

    As told of India

  9. لكنهم أَهلُ كتابٍ قَضَى

    بالفَصْلِ بين الحُرِّ والعَبْدِ

    But they are People of the Book

    Whose affairs the Judge has settled

  10. جاءَتْهُمُ التوراةُ وهي التي

    كانَتْ إِلى سُبْلِ الهُدَى تَهْدي

    Between the free and the bound

    The Torah came to guide

  11. ونُزِّلَ المَنُّ عليهم مع السَّ

    لْوَى كما اختاروا من القصدِ

    Manna and quails they were given

    As they chose the path of reason

  12. يا من حوى فضلاً ونبلاً ومَنْ

    إِليه فيما قُلْتُهُ قصدي

    O you whose nobility I extol

    My ode is meant for you

  13. اِهْنَأْ بعُرْسٍ قد غدا يُوْمُهُ

    عيداً لأَهلِ الغَوْرِ والنَّجْدِ

    Rejoice in a wedding whose day

    Is a feast for the valley's people

  14. أَقبَلَ والإِقبالُ قد حاطهُ

    حِياطَةَ الخَلْخَالِ بالزَّنْدِ

    Good fortune has come to you

    Like a bracelet clasping your wrist

  15. وعندك الحَلْواءُ معقودَةً

    أَحْكَمها الصّانِعُ في العِقْدِ

    The sweetest is by you

    Made firm by the Artisan's hand

  16. أَحْلى من الأَمْنِ ولكنَّها

    أَفْوَحُ في الطِّيبِ منَ النَّدِّ

    Sweeter than safety but

    More fragrant than musk

  17. فجُدْ على الشاعِرِ منها فما

    يُعِيدُه عنكَ وما يُبْدِي

    Reward the poet, do not

    Deny or hesitate

  18. وعَجَّلِ الجائزةَ الآنَ لي

    فإِنَّني أَصْبحْتُ في جَهْدِ

    Give me the prize at once

    For I am in dire need

  19. لا زِلْتَ في عِزٍّ وفي نِعْمةٍ

    ما غَرَّدَ الطيرُ على الرَّنْدِ

    May you remain in glory and bounty

    As long as birds sing on the branch
