ووارثة الألحاظ من حدَق المها

غدت نار قلبي من هواها مؤَرّثه

Inheritor of glances from the eyes of gazelles

My heart's fire became inherited from her love

مذكَّرة الأسياف من لحظاتها

وقالت علاماتُ الفتور مؤَنثه

Reminder of swords from her glances

And signs of weakness said it was feminized

تغزلت فيها وامتدحت أخا العلى

إمام التقى والنفس غير مغلّثه

I flirted with her and praised the brother Al-Ala

The Imam of piety and the self not confused

ولم لا ومن نعماه للفكر باعث

على أدبٍ ما مات إلا ليبعثه

Why not when his favors to the mind are inspiring

To literature that only died to revive it

إمامٌ لُهاهُ بالمعالي فقيهةٌ

وأمداحه بالمكرمات محدِّثَه

An Imam fascinated by glories a jurist

And his praises by generosity are its narrator

أمولايَ شهراً جامع الشام أزمعا

على موته من فكرة العبد محدثه

My Master a month bringing Damascus together

To his death from the thought of a slave its talker

وقد بنيت حمامها في أضالعي

وعزم أناسٍ أن تكون مثلَّثه

And her pigeons were built in my ribs

And people intended it to be its triangle
