1. والذي زاد مقليك اقتدارا

    ما أظنّ الوشاةَ إلا غيارا

    The one who increased your power

    I do not think the slanderers except jealous

  2. بهمُ مثل ما بنا من جفون

    شاجياتٍ تهتك الأستارا

    They have with us from eyelids

    Partitions that unveil the veils

  3. كلما جال لحظها ترك النا

    س سكارى وما هم بسكارى

    Whenever her gaze wandered, people left

    Intoxicated, yet they are not drunk

  4. يا غزالاً رنا وغصناً تثنى

    وهلالاً سما وبدراً أنارا

    O a gazelle that cried and a branch that bent

    A crescent that fasted and a full moon that shone

  5. كان دمعي على هواك لجيناً

    فأحالته نارُ قلبي نضارا

    My tears for your love were plenty

    The fire of my heart made them fresh

  6. حليةٌ لا أعيرها لمحبٍّ

    شغل الحلي أهله أن يعارا

    An ornament I do not lend to a lover

    The people of the ornament preoccupied themselves with borrowing

  7. ما لقلبي اليتيم ضلَّ وقد آ

    نسَ من جانب السوالف نارا

    What is wrong with my orphan heart that went astray

    And forgot the one who lit the fires of passions

  8. لك جيدٌ ومقلةٌ تركا الظ

    بي لفرط الحياءِ يأوي القفارا

    You have a neck and a nape that left

    The gazelle out of extreme shyness seeking the wilderness

  9. وثنايا أخذْنَ في ريقها الخم

    ر وأعطين العقول الخمارا

    And curves that took the wine in their saliva

    And gave minds intoxication

  10. عاطرات الشميم تحسب فيه

    نَّ شذاً من ثنا ابن شادٍ مُعارا

    The aromas of the breeze think in it

    A scent from the son of Shad is borrowed

  11. المليك المؤيد اللازم السؤ

    دد إن حلَّ حلَّ أو سار سارا

    The supported King, the ever present, the fortunate

    If he came he came, or traveled he traveled

  12. والجواد الذي حبا المال حتى

    كاد يحبو الأعمال والأعمارا

    And the generous one who loved money until

    He almost loved deeds and lifetimes

  13. أعدل المالكين حكماً فما يظ

    لم إلاّ العداةَ والدينارا

    The most just of rulers in rule so he does not

    Wrong except the enemies and dinars

  14. فاح ذكراً وفاض في الخلق نهراً

    فحمدنا الرِّياض والأنهارا

    Spread fame and overflowed to people like a river

    So we praised the gardens and the rivers

  15. ليس فيه عيبٌ سوى أن إحسا

    نَ يديه يستعبد الأحرارا

    His only flaw is that the beauty of his hands

    Enslaves the free

  16. لم يزل جوده يجور على الما

    ل إلى أن كسى النضار اصفرارا

    His generosity kept wronging money

    Until it clothed freshness with yellowness

  17. البدارَ البدارَ نحو نداه

    فإذا صال فالفرارَ الفرارا

    Run, run towards his call

    So if you meet then flee, flee

  18. مثل ماء السماء خلقاً هنيئاً

    وابن ماء السما علًى واقتدارا

    Like the water of the sky in creation prosperous

    And son of the water of the sky in power and following

  19. كلما استغفر الرَّجا من سواه

    أرسلت كفه الندى مدرارا

    Whenever the hopeful sought forgiveness from others

    His palm sent continuous dew

  20. وإذا شبتِ الوغى فكأنَّ الس

    يف من بأسه استعارَ استعارا

    And if war flared up, it is as if the

    Sword borrowed ferocity from his might

  21. ذو حسامٍ مدَرَّبٍ لم يدَعْ في

    جانب الشامِ للعدى ديَّارا

    Owner of a trained sword that did not leave

    For the enemy in the Levant, any dwellings

  22. أعجل الكافرين بالفتك عن أن

    يلدوا فيه فاجراً كفَّارا

    Hastening the infidels with killing before

    They beget among it an immoral infidel

  23. يا مليكاً أحيى الثنا والعطايا

    فجلبنا لسوقه الأشعارا

    O a King who revived poetry and gifts

    So we came to his market with poems

  24. وتلقى بضائعَ القصدِ والحم

    د فجئنا إلى حماهِ تجارا

    And met the goods of purpose and praise

    So we came to Hama as traders

  25. أسألُ الله أن يزيدَك فضلاً

    وسموًّا على الورى وفخارا

    I ask Allah to increase you in virtue

    And loftiness over all creation and pride

  26. صنتني عن أذى الزَّمانِ وقد حا

    ول حربي واستكبر استكبارا

    You protected me from the harm of time and my war

    Tried me and walked with arrogance

  27. وانبرى غيثك الهتون بجدوى

    علَّمتني مدائحاً لا تُبارى

    And your heavy rain poured helpfully

    You taught me unmatched praises

  28. ما مددنا لك اليمينَ ابتغاءً

    للعطايا إلا شكرنا اليسارا

    We did not extend the right hand to you seeking

    Gifts except thanking the left
