تشرّف يا رسول الله نظمي

بمدحك واستجاش بكلِّ خيرِ

My poetry is honored, O Messenger of Allah

To praise you and gush with all good

فما أعلى وأبرك منه كعبي

وما أعلى نباتي عن زُهَير

For nothing is higher or more blessed than my pride

And none loftier in growth than Zuhair
