1. أسرت في الحبِّ يا ينجو فمن ينجي

    يا طفلةَ الترك من هجرانك الكرجي

    I fell captive to love, O Janju, so who will save me

    O Turkish damsel, from your abandonment I shrivel

  2. هل لثمةٌ منك مثل الرَّاح عند فَمي

    وعند عاذليَ الغيرانِ كالبنج

    Is there anything like your lips to my mouth

    And to my reproachers like cloves?

  3. كالشهد لفظ علاء الدِّين نرقبه

    والسمّ عند عداة الدِّين نسترجي

    Like honey are the words of Ala Al-Din we await

    And like poison to the enemies of the faith we seek

  4. أهلاً بمقدم ون وَدّ الهلال بأن

    يمسي لمركوبه المسعود كالسرج

    Welcome guests and new crescent, so that

    It brings good fortune to its rider like a saddle

  5. ملك الكتابة أي الأرض واصلها

    مسعاه كانَ سعيد الوصل والدّرْج

    The king of calligraphy, meaning the land, originated it

    His efforts were those of felicitous union and ascent

  6. إن بتُّ في مزْج ذكراه فإنيَ من

    همِّ التباعد في هرْجٍ وفي مرْج

    If I remain in the temper of his memories, then I

    From the anxiety of distance am in turmoil and in haste

  7. قد فقعتْ بالتنائِي مهجةٌ نسبت

    في الخاص قدماً وقد عادت من الجرج

    In my innermost being a wound has been inflicted

    That at first advanced then retreated from the fray
