فديت مؤَذِّناً تصبو إليه

بجامع جلّق منا النفوس

I ransom a muezzin yearned for

In a mosque that binds souls

لقد زفَّ الزمان به مليحاً

تكاد بأن تعانقه العروس

Time has certainly brought him in fine form

That a bride would be inclined to embrace him
