يئستُ من الصداقة منكَ لما
تمادَى منك إعراضٌ وثيق
I despaired of friendship from you when
my firm withdrawal from you had long persisted.
ومن عجب الزمان إذا اعتبرنا
خليلٌ ما يجي منه صديق
And among the wonders of Time, if we reflect,
O my two companions, is that no friend comes from it.
