لا وخمر بابليَّه

في ثنايا لؤلؤيَّه

No wine or Babylon crystals

In the folds of its pearl essence

لا رقى سفح دموعي

في هوى تلك الثنيَّه

My tears won't soothe down the slope

Of passion for those curves

ربع سلواني خراب

وشجوني عامريَّه

My dwelling is in ruins

While my grief makes it prosper

حرَبي من ذات حسن

باسمٍ تبكي البريَّه

My war with the essence of beauty

In a name that makes the land weep

غادة يروي لماها

عن صحاحٍ جوهريَّه

Ghada quenches what he craves

From a crystal-clear fount

من بيوت الترك ترمي

عن قسيٍّ عربيَّه

He casts from Turkish homes

An arrow from an Arab bow

رحلَّتني عن سلوي

بلغاتٍ فارسيَّه

It took me away from Sulayy

In Persian languages

لستُ أرضى يا عذولي

في هواها بالتقيَّه

I'm not pleased, O fawn eyes

To be chaste in her passion

ولقد أبذل روحي

في معانيها السنيَّه

And I would give my soul

For her radiant meanings

لم أخف في عبلة السا

ق وفاها العنبريَّه

I feared not in the night’s gloom

And her amber-scented loyalty

لا ولا أخشى من الدن

يا عواديها الجريَّه

Nor do I dread this world’s

Fickle turn of events

حجبتني يد إسما

عيل عن كلِّ بليَّه

Isma’il’s hand has veiled me

From all tribulation

ملك أغنى عن السح

بِ بجدواه المليَّه

A king who has no need of youth

With his natural glory

حاتميِّ الكف يثني

من أذى الدهر عديَّه

My people of glorious descent

Clear-faced and bright complexion

معرق الآباء باهي الش

خص وضَّاح السجيَّه

May God protect his reign

And these subjects of his

قد رعى الله ببقيا

ملكه هذي الرعيَّه

Blessed be the sea of his palms

And the wishes they hold

حبَّذا بحر بكفَّي

هِ الأماني والمنيه

With a sword that parts the fog

With its keen vision

ذو حسامٍ يكشف الخط

ب برؤياه المضيَّه

A just one who shares out equally

In the manner of even scales

عادل يقسم في نا

زلة قسم السويَّه

He brings honor to swords

Named the Glorious

شرَّف الأسياف حتَّى

سمِّيت بالمشرفيَّه

Regarding his fine body

He has a sturdy spirit

ويراع ناحل الجس

م له نفس قويَّه

Wakeful in the dark of destiny

To shelter the people

ساهر في ظلم الخ

ير لتأمين البريَّه

Combining generosity and knowledge

Planetary attributes

جامع في الجودِ والع

لم صفات كوكبيَّه

Thus are glories built

With geometric qualities

هكذا تبنى المعالي

بمزايا هندسيَّه

O king endowed by God

With brilliant traits

يا مليكاً خصَّه الل

ه بأوصافٍ سنيَّه

For you I have sincerities

And hidden benefits

لك عندِي صدقات

وإفادات خفيَّه

Requiring praise, though I have no need

To praise

تقتضي المدح وإن كا

نت عن المدحِ غنيَّه

So remain lord of the headbands

With amber scents

فابْق مخدوم السجايا

بتحايا عنبريَّه

And join the rule for eternal
