أشكو إليكَ حالة قد أوقعت

محسوب هذا العمر في طول العنا

The dear life of this age amidst prolonged distress

يتطَّلب المال ولا يناله

لا راحة الفقر ولا عيش الغنى

Money is needed but cannot be obtained

No rest in poverty, nor life in wealth
