كلفت بشائبٍ لا عذلَ يثني

جماحي في هواهُ ولا لجاجي

The locks of hair that reproach me not swayed me,

Nor the ardour of my passion nor my obstinacy,

أقبلُ من عذاريْ وجنتيه

سياجَ الوردِ أو وردَ السياج

Approaching in the darkness from my two gardens,

The hedge of roses or the roses of the hedge.
