لعمري لقد حفت بأمنٍ وصحةٍ

ليالي وصالٍ للهناءِ مبيح

For my life, nights of union for permitted happiness

Have been surrounded by safety and health.

أحاشيكَ عن تعريض سقم وأرتجي

عوائد عيش للهناء منيح

I implore you to refrain from insinuating illness,

And wish for the return of wholesome living.

فلا سقمٌ إلاَّ بجفنِ مليحةٍ

ولا عارضٌ إلاَّ بخدِّ مليح

No sickness but by the eyelid of a pretty one,

No affliction but by a pretty cheek.
