وأغنّ في الفقهاء رمت تسلياً

فأتى العذار بحسنه المخصوص

I sang of the jurists as a solace

Then the bachelor came with his particular beauty

وأعدت فاتحة الهوى إذ نصَّ في

خدّ فلم تبطل على المنصوص

And I prepared the opening verse of passion when he aimed

At a cheek, which did not annul what was set down
