وكنت أرجو اللقا بمصر عسى

تسرُّكم من جوارِنا طرْبَه

And I hoped to meet in Egypt, perhaps

Your company would bring joy to me

جوار قومٍ بنورِهم فرِجت

عنِّي وعن كلِّ وافدٍ كربَه

The company of a people whose light

Relieved me and every newcomer of sorrow

شهادة الناس فيهمو قبلتْ

بالعدلِ حتَّى شهادة الحسبه

The testimony of people about them

Was accepted even by the jealous

يا سيِّداً ما وجدت غيرِ قرى

نعماه في محضرٍ ولا غرْبه

O master, I have not found any place

Like it in welcome or foreignness

لياليَ الصوم ما قطعتُ لها

فطراً وأيَّام العام بالنسبه

The nights of fasting I have not broken

Fast throughout the year relatively

فليهنأ القربُ من حماك بهِ

صوماً وفطراً ولتهنك القربه

So may nearness to your protection find joy

In fasting and in breaking fast, and may nearness rejoice
