    أقصرْ فإنَّ غرامي غيرُ ذي عوج

    O you who blame me for falling in love with a graceful, well-proportioned one,

    Cease your reproaches, for my passion is free of crookedness.

  2. أشكو الشدائدَ من وجدٍ أكابِده

    ولستُ أيأسُ في شكوايَ من فرَج

    I complain of the calamities that my love brings, which I endure,

    Yet I do not despair that relief will come from my complaints.
