1. لهفي على غادةٍ إذا أسفَرتْ

    غارَتْ وجوهُ الشموس واستترتْ

    My longing for Ghada when dawn breaks

    The faces of suns were jealous and hid

  2. لها من السمر قامةٌ خطرَتْ

    كم قتلت عاشقاً وكم أسرَتْ

    She has a slender figure made of ambergris

    How many lovers has she killed and captured

  3. إذا دعت للنهوضِ ميلها عطفا

    كانَ سحر الجفون حملها ضعفا

    If she leaned her side to get up

    The magic of her eyelids was her only weakness

  4. في خدِّها شامةٌ معنبرةٌ

    يا نعمةٌ بالشقيق مزهرةٌ

    On her cheek a speckled moles

    What a blessing dotted with beauty

  5. وكم لها في الشفاهِ جوهرةٌ

    تحفُّها ريقةٌ معطَّرةٌ

    And how many pearls in her lips

    Adorned with scented saliva

  6. من رامَ بالشهدِ أن يمثلها رشفا

    فإنَّما رامَ أن يعسّلها وَصفا

    Whoever tries to describe her sips honey

    Only aims to sweeten her attributes

  7. تحكم في الناس عنسه وردا

    حكم ابن أيوب في سطاً وندا

    She rules people gently like a rose

    The rule of Ibn Ayyoub fairly and generously

  8. بين عفاةٍ له وبين عدا

    ما يدٌ سمِّيت لديه يدا

    Between those who obey him and those who disobey

    No hand called against him a hand

  9. وهيَ غمامٌ لمن تأمَّلها وطفا

    سبحان من للعبادِ أرسلها لطفا

    She is a cloud for whoever contemplated her kindly

    Glory to Him who sent her to people kindly

  10. مؤيّدٌ في مُلا مراتبهِ

    يتَّضح الملك في مناقبهِ

    Supported in his full power

    The kingship shows in his virtues

  11. إذا طوى الأرض في كتائبِهِ

    ثمَّ سقاها حيا مواهبهِ

    When he gathered troops on earth

    Then revived it alive with his gifts

  12. أنبت أزهارها ودللها قطفا

    من بعد ما كادَ أن يزلزلها خسفا

    Growing its flowers and picking them gently

    After almost shaking and sinking it

  13. وغادة جاد سحر مقلتها

    وراقَ للناسِ روض طلعتها

    And Ghada the magic of her glances

    And the meadow of her appearance delighted people

  14. جنيتُ نارَ الأسى بجنَّتها

    وصُحت من صبوتي بوجنتها

    I gathered the fire of sorrow in her paradise

    And my cries recovered in her paradise

  15. وجنَّة وردٍ تشكو النفوسُ لها لهفا

    بياضُ م شمَّلها وقبَّلها ألفا

    A paradise of roses that souls long for her

    Its whiteness embraced and kissed her frequently
