مليحٌ جلا من خطِّه لي رقعة

تدلّ على تحريره واعتباره

Beautiful is his handwriting to me a note

That shows his good composition and esteem

فلم أرَ في خط وشكل كحسنها

سوى شكل خدَّيه وخط عذاره

Yet in no script or form have I seen beauty

Like the shape of his cheeks or line of his brow
