أشكو إلى الله ما أقاسي

من شدَّة الفقر والهوان

I complain to God of what I suffer

From the severity of poverty and humiliation

أصبحت من ذلَّةٍ وعري

ما فيَّ دافٍ سوى لساني

I have become from humiliation and nakedness

Nothing in me is burning except my tongue
