سرَت لحسنِك في العشَّاق أمثال

وما لحسنك يا معشوق أمثال

Your beauty has spread stories amongst lovers,

And your beauty, my beloved, has no equal.

حوالة الصبّ قد أعيت وحيلتهُ

على لقاك فقل لي كيف أحْتال

The madness of passion has exhausted its ploys,

To attain you, so tell me, what should I do?

تقسَّمت فيك يا جيد الغزال وفي

مدح الدوادار أمداح وأغزال

You have captivated me, O best of gazelles, and

Praises and poems are composed for your cheeks.

رسمٌ ببابِ الحمى العزيّ مكتتب

قابل حماه وقل عزٌّ وإقبال

A poem is inscribed at the door of the honored, ill one,

Meet its protector and say, “Honor and acceptance.”

قد علَّم الله في أقلام راحته

وبالسيوف فأرزاقٌ وآجال

God has taught with the pens of His tranquility

Provisions and lifespans by the swords.

يا سائد الملك بالآراء يعلمها

لا جيش يسعى مساعيها ولا مال

O leader of the kingdom with enlightened opinion,

No army can match its efforts, nor wealth.

هنئت فوزك دنيا ثم آخرة

فقد زكت لك في الدارين أعمال

You were congratulated for your worldly and next worldly success,

For indeed, your deeds have been accepted in both abodes.
